Come ride with us in the beautiful West Virginia Appalachian Mountains on August 2, 2008. Traverse scenic mountain trails and splash through refreshing streams with your equine friends. We are located in Ellamore WV (near Elkins WV). We will be hosting a 30 mile limited distance ride and a 50 mile endurance AHA Sweepstakes ride. This ride is Sanctioned with AERC and ECTRA.
The trail will be of moderate difficulty. The trail will consist mainly of gas well maintanence roads(dirt or gravel roads traveled by 4 wheel drives) and All Terrain Vehicle paths. The terrain will be hilly and through shaded deciduous forest. The trail encompasses native trout streams Long Run and Kittle Run tributaries of the Middle Fork of the Buchannon. Hoof protection of shoes or boots are strongly recommended due to the rocky paths and gravel roads. Trail criss crosses the Randolph County and Upsher County lines.
New This Year . . .Large RIVERSIDE SITE For BASECAMP!

Base Camp is located in Ellamore WV. Watch for AERC signs. Camp access is available only one mile(wide graveled road) from Rt. 151(a double lane paved road). Volunteers will assist you with parking arrangements. The camp will be open Friday August 1, through Sunday August 3. Please notify ride management if you will be arriving earlier or staying later.
Camping Camping will be primative with port-a-johns and tent style dining / ride briefing. Provided is fifteen acres of mowed field on a gentle sloping hill to level acreage butted directly next to the river. Water tanks will be provided for equines.You may tie or corral your equines. Do not tie them to fencing or to trees. No open campfires.
Dogs are their owner's responsability. They must remain on a leash or confined within your own trailer space.

Historical Notes Trail exist in the Old Staunton Parkersburg Turnpike area which is the road that went through the Rich Mountain Battlefield.
Historical Towns Kingsville was settled by the Irish. Coalton was settled by the Italians. Pumpkintown was named for the property dividing pumpkin vine fences.
Driving Directions
Please review your driving directions and plan accordingly as you will be driving in mountain country.
From the West: 1-79 Exit 99 take Route 33 East towards Elkins, Turn RIGHT onto Route 151 (across from Kesling Mill Rd.) at mile post 16, then take an immediate LEFT onto Route 151 East for 13 miles. As soon as you cross the Randolph Co. line turn RIGHT onto the dirt road across from Lantz Rd. (Just across the bridge). Travel 1 mile, the base camp is on the RIGHT.
From the East: From Elkins travel West on Route 33 towards Norton. Turn LEFT toward Route 151 at mile post 26. Take the first RIGHT onto Route 151 West for 10 miles. Turn LEFT onto the dirt road across from Lantz Rd. (Just before the bridge). Travel 1 mile, the base camp is on the RIGHT.
