Ride The Trail 

Precautions:   All Horses must have a current negative Coggins report

and a Veterinarian Inspection for registration.

Potomac Horse Fever Vaccine is Recommended(cases reported in county)

All Riders must wear an approved helmet. 

Hoof Protection, Horse Shoes and/or Pads are strongly advised.



Ride Briefing will start after the dinner on Friday night. We will review  trail markings, conditions, locations, holds, parameters, best condition standing and etc. We will answer your questions at the end of the briefing.

Start of The Ride.   The 50 milers will start at 6:30am and the 30 milers will start at 7:30am. All riders must leave within 15 minutes of their race start times.

Holds.  All holds will be at basecamp and last 50 minutes long. There will be 3 holds for the 50 mile distance and 1 hold for the 30 mile distance.

Arrival Time.  You must reach the veterinarian inspections/holds before they are closed. There will be cut off times for arrival based on the maximum times for successful completion of the course. Your arrival time is the time you pass P& R(Pulse and Respiration).

Finish Line.  You have completed the ride when your horse passes the final veterinarian inspection after crossing the finish line. Rules for Best Condition will be discussed at the ride briefing. 

Details      

Farrier  There will be a farrier available on Saturday during the ride. All shoes are the horse's custodians responsibility.

Awards  All awards are based on the final veterinarian examination.

Ride Closing Date  Entries postmarked after July 20, 2008 will expect higher entry fees and may not be guaranteed  meals. The ride is open to new entries.

Entries  You must fill out an entry form and sign a liability form. Entries Postmarked July 21, 2008 will be considered LATE.

Fees  You must show proof of a current AERC membership or pay the $15.00 day member fee.

NO Rentals Available There are No stalls or No electric hook ups at this site.

Meals  There will be a catered dinner on Friday night. One meal ticket is provided for each rider. Extra meal tickets can be purchased for $10.00 each. Pastries and coffee will be provided early Saturday morning. There will be a hot food and cold drink vending trailer available on Saturday. Restaurants and amenities are located in Elkins WV.

Cancelations / Refund Policy   If you cancel your ride entry with ride management before the pre-ride veterinarian exam, you will receive a refund less $25.00.  If you do not show for the ride and do not notifiy management or if you have presented your horse for examination, you will not receive a refund.
